Word and Worship DTS #5 (Part 2)

Psalm 91:1-2

This second part continues the theme of freedom from fear by showing how hidden anxieties can quietly distort a person's calling. The teaching makes space for the realities of performance pressure, fear of exposure, fear of failure, and the temptation to spiritualize inner struggles instead of confronting them honestly. Yet the tone remains hopeful and pastoral. The message insists that fear loses power when it is brought into the light and that the Holy Spirit does not lead through panic, striving, or shame. The burden of the session is that healthy mission life grows out of grace-filled honesty, not pressure-filled pretending. Ask God to show you the fears that are hiding underneath overwork, pressure, or spiritual performance. Talk about those fears honestly instead of letting them quietly govern your life. Let grace lead you back into peace, truth, and healthy dependence on the Holy Spirit. Protect love and joy in your calling by refusing to let fear become your master. Lord, expose every fear that keeps us performing instead of living freely before you. Heal the places where shame and pressure have distorted our calling. Fill us again with your Spirit so that we may serve you from love, truth, and peace.

  • The teaching expands the conversation on fear by identifying specific fears that missionaries and disciples often carry.
  • It shows how fear can layer itself through performance, shame, overwork, and the need to appear strong.
  • The session then calls the students to expose those fears rather than sanctify them.
  • Throughout, the message keeps pointing back to the voice of the Holy Spirit, the freedom of grace, and the need to keep love at the center of calling.
  • Ask God to show you the fears that are hiding underneath overwork, pressure, or spiritual performance.
