When the Holy Spirit Has Come
Acts 1:6-8
This message centers on the nearness and empowering presence of the Holy Spirit, especially for those who feel fatherless, forgotten, or weak. The service begins by openly inviting the Spirit of God and by praying for orphans and vulnerable children across the world. That pastoral focus makes the sermon especially tender. Jesus promised he would not leave his people as orphans, and Acts 1 becomes the place where that promise moves toward fulfillment. The Holy Spirit is presented not as a distant doctrine, but as God's own presence coming to strengthen, comfort, and empower his people for witness. The message leaves the church with hope that those who belong to Jesus are not abandoned. They are received, filled, and sent.
- The service begins in worship around the welcome and presence of the Holy Spirit.
- Prayer then turns toward orphans and fatherless children, linking the Spirit's ministry with the heart of God for the vulnerable.
- From there, Acts 1 frames the promise of power and presence before the church is sent into the world.
- The sermon calls the congregation to receive the Spirit as both comfort and empowerment.
Do not think of the Holy Spirit as optional or distant when Jesus has given him as the presence of God with you. Receive his comfort in places of loneliness and his power in places of weakness. Let his coming move you toward prayer, compassion, and witness.
Holy Spirit, thank you that you do not leave us as orphans. Fill us again with your presence, comfort the vulnerable, and empower us to live as witnesses of Jesus with compassion, courage, and love.
